Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab, Joutseno, Finland
The Metsä-Botnia Joutseno pulp mill was rebuilt in two phases. The recovery line started in 1998 and the fibre line in 2001. The mill's total capacity is 600 000 tons per year of bleached softwood kraft pulp.
The first phase, Pulp98, included a new evaporation plant with a tall oil cooking plant, recovery boiler, turbine generator, recausticising plant and lime kiln.
The second phase, Pulp2000, included a new wood handling plant with debarking and chip storages, and a new fibre line with cooking, oxygen delignification, knot separation and bleaching plants. It also included major repairs in the drying machine, raw and waste water treatment and underground piping.
In both phases, Pöyry provided complete engineering services.
Pöyry has been previously involved in projects for Metsä-Botnia's Kaskinen, Äänekoski and Rauma pulp mills. |
