Panomara Tower, Office Building, Espoo, Finland

Panorama Tower is a 70-metres high office building located in a very narrow site. The design and construction will be tightly co-ordinated in this construction project. Panorama Tower will be implemented using the management contracting method. The work will be divided into several contracts, deliveries and procurements. The structural designer must have extremely good control over the entire structural design because of the very tight time schedule.

Time schedule:

  • April 2004, commencement of design
  • November 2004, interruption of design
  • November 2005, re-commencement of design
  • May 2006, commencement of construction
  • December 2007, construction completed
Structural engineering has been carried out using 3D-simulated real-world structures in a multi-purpose product model. All structures are modeled three-dimensionally by using the Tekla Structures software. Detailing of reinforcements is also designed in the 3D model.

Construction Project of the Year 2005 appointed by Senate Properties

VTT Digi-house has space for 270 employees. The project was implemented using the project management method. The work was divided into several contracts, deliveries and procurements. The structural designer had to have extremely good control over the entire structural design because of the very tight time schedule. The target was to design an office building, where the versatility of the office space and life cycle and environment issues were taken into account.

The design was carried out by using integrated CAD. The demanding steel structures of the hanging floors in the central hall were designed three-dimensionally using the Tekla Structures software.
